LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Because Some Lessons Are Meant to Be Experienced

At HPMI, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when students are given the opportunity to do, explore, question and experience rather than simply listen.

OUR APPROACH

From classroom learning to real experience.

At HPMI, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when students are given the opportunity to do, explore, question and experience rather than simply listen.

Our classrooms regularly incorporate activity-based and innovative approaches to teaching, with teachers looking for engaging ways to make concepts easier to understand and more meaningful to students. Whether through an experiment, a project, a discussion, a competition or an educational excursion, we encourage students to connect knowledge with experience.

EXPERIENCE · EXPLORE · APPLY

From Learning to Doing

Science experiments, practical activities and project-based learning allow students to see concepts in action. Teachers continually explore creative ways of presenting topics so that students can move beyond simply knowing an answer to understanding how knowledge works in practice.

ACTIVE LEARNING

Learning happens through experience.

01

Learning Through Projects

Projects encourage students to research, explore, collaborate and present their understanding. More importantly, they provide opportunities for students to make connections between different ideas and apply classroom learning to real situations.

02

Experiences Beyond the School Walls

Educational excursions and field experiences give students opportunities to observe and learn from the world around them. These experiences complement classroom learning while encouraging curiosity, awareness and independent observation.

03

A Culture of Participation

Debates, competitions, workshops, sports and a wide range of activities encourage students to step forward, participate and express themselves.

SKILLS FOR LIFE

Experiences that shape students.

These experiences help develop qualities that cannot always be measured through a written examination:

Teamwork Leadership Confidence Problem-Solving Critical Thinking Communication Practical Application
THE REAL WORLD

Learning for the Real World

Our aim is not simply to make learning more interesting. It is to help students use what they learn.

When a student works with others, presents an idea, solves a problem, participates in a competition, conducts an experiment or takes responsibility for a task, learning becomes active — and skills begin to develop alongside knowledge.

We want our students to leave the classroom not just knowing more, but being able to do more.
